Welcome to Visual Arts
Welcome to Visual Arts!
It is my greatest pleasure to be your child’s Visual Arts teacher. I look forward to watching each of our young artists grow, explore, and blossom throughout the school year.
Visual art provides students with a wonderful opportunity to express themselves creatively, build confidence, and discover their unique artistic voices. Art education also supports learning and development in other academic areas by encouraging creativity, problem-solving, observation, and critical-thinking skills.
At Holy Cross, students begin their visual arts education as young as Pre-K4 and continue through 8th grade.
Elementary Visual Arts
Students in Pre-K4 through 5th grade receive visual arts instruction once a week for 45 minutes throughout the school year.
Junior High Visual Arts
For students in 6th through 8th grade, Visual Arts is offered as an elective. Junior High students receive art instruction twice a week for the entire school year, giving them additional opportunities to develop their artistic skills and explore a variety of creative techniques.
Throughout their visual arts education, students are introduced to a wide range of artistic mediums and materials, including paint, clay, colored pencils, drawing materials, and more. Students learn the Elements of Art and Principles of Design, building a strong foundation in artistic vocabulary and creative expression.
Students also learn about artists and their artwork, exploring different styles, cultures, techniques, and periods of art history. As they progress, students develop the ability to critique, evaluate, discuss, and reflect on artwork, both their own and the work of others.
My goal is to create an encouraging and creative environment where every student feels comfortable taking risks, exploring new ideas, and discovering the joy of making art.

Through our Holy Cross Artsonia gallery, students have the opportunity to share their artwork with family, friends, and the wider community while celebrating their artistic accomplishments.
Our Artsonia gallery continues to grow as more of our students’ artwork is added throughout the school year. We invite you to visit our gallery, celebrate our students’ creativity, and see the wonderful artwork being created in our Visual Arts program!
